My blogging experience

In this time I will write about my blogging experience. May be sounds weird write about blogging in my own blog, but is the topic for today and I think it could be useful for evaluate the opinion of the students about the way we are learning English.

Well, since the beginning I liked the idea of use one part of the class in write posts in English (maybe I have been prefer use the second part of the class doing it, because it’s a work more funny). Just yesterday I was thinking that I don’t even notice that each class I was writing more words in the posts, I think that it’s very good.

About my experience writing in the blog, in general it was ok. I enjoy it. I think that help me to think more in English and to express myself in this idiom. The topics we had to write about was good delimited and clear, but too sufficiently wide for tackle it from different ways. I think that one of the advantages is that the great majority of the topics were interesting and it was necessary in many occasions take a position about it and develop and argue for do it. Others topics were more descriptive and you just had to relate a situation in particular or talk about important people in your own opinion. Anyway, in all the posts (even in this) I could extend my vocabulary trying to say what I really wanted to express.
Finally was good for me read posts of others classmates, because I learned too doing this: I practice my reading, and I could see other ways to write in English and express topics.

Well, this is my last post in this class
So goodbye everyone!

Human capacities

Today I will talk about some topics that Ken Robinson touches in his monologue. I think that he is talking about things more serious that we could believe. One of the topics who make me senses was the idea that we are making people who live out-of-bodies experiences. Like we were” no-bodies-persons”, I think that it’s very true. Robison starts steadying who there is an extraordinary evidence of human creativity, this extraordinary capacity it’s truncated in the meantime we’re growing up. The society accepts the idea that we born, we grow up, we have a job useful and productive, we have children, we work all the life for having more and more things that we don’t even need, and then we die and we have to pay for do it. That’s life is it, this idea have become common sense. It’s very difficult for a person take the options that nobody is offering…“don’t be musicians, don’t’ do art”…. Just like Robinson says, in the school nobody teach you to dance like they teach you math... It’s the idea of be a useful person for the society, but who decides what is useful or useless? There are not more purposes, no dreams, and no questions. And if you decided to be happy, do what you really want to do generally you have to pay an important social punish. Well, about this my opinion is that we need be complete persons, and not just choose one of other activity, develop all us areas, learn all the topics: the human capacities are infinite. We could do and learn anything.

Au Square du Vert-Galant

Robert doisneau is a French photographer. He lived in the Paris of the decade of the 40'; jazz, bohemian, big writers ... but too in the period of war. He knew to Jean Paul Sartre and Albert Camus. His work it’s famous for having portrayed the life of the city of Paris and of his inhabitants throughout many decades. The most famous picture of Doisneau is “The Kiss”, I am sure you have seen it some time.

The composition of his images is fantastic, he can construct scenes full of life and magic, many of them are spontaneous and others are interpreted by young actors. Doisneau is a street photographer, many of his photographs are about young or old woman alone in an urban place, others are about kids or about pairs kissing each other in the streets of his country.

This picture is named “Au Square du Vert-Galant” and it’s one of my favorites, It was taken in a French place named Square du Vert-Galant, it’s a botanic park. I think it’s amazing, at the first view it seems to be a simple image of people near to the river, but then ... there are two young people kissing each other, and they are immediately the center of the photography! It’s really nice.

Well, I hope you like this picture, and I really recommended find pictures of this photographer, and other photographers of his time like Cartier Bresson.

Bye!

Two types of technology

Today I’ll talk about two technologies, one is the internet (and the computer of course). This a technology that I use frequently. The other, is a technology who, in my opinion, is very interesting, simple, useful and not expensive (almost free): the solar collectors.

I believe that Internet it is one of the most important technologies for some people in this time. Today it is very easy to access to it, at least in Chile, from libraries, universities, stations of meter, etc. The million of information that circulate in this virtual space have had a great impact in the societies. Well, you can use the internet not only to open your e-mail or to look for books; you can also use it too for see movies, or download a lot of music. It’s amazing that by means of the internet you can find people, play games or see movies. In internet, you can save many, hundred of files, documents, music, photos and they not use physic space, they are just in a virtual space intangible, but you can use them when you want.

I am going to talk about a type of technology that seems to me to be very interesting: the solar collectors. It serves to take the energy of the solar radiation, and transforming it into heat energy of temperature for domestic or commercial uses. It’s very economic and it can replace a calefont, considering that in our country around the 50% of the houses doesn’t have calefont. Well, this is free and clean energy! Can use it any person (there are no companies that have the rights of the sun). Another advantage is that is very easy have this technology. Only you have to learn to construct and to support it. In these days some students of geology of the University of Chile are teaching this.

Backpacking travel: Chiloé and his islands

The summer of 2009 I went in a backpacking travel with 5 friends: Natalia, Pedro, “el Negro”, Gael and Daniela. We wanted travel around Chiloé and know his little islands. I worked all Jaunary to save money, and we started at the beginnings of February. The first place we went was Cucao, we stayed on a camping called “El camping de la abuela”, in this place was staying too the person who now is m boyfriend: Pablo. He went to Chiloé with his friend Nestor. It was camp too many interesting and funny people from different places of Chile. By the nights we make a bonfire and sing, and in the morning we swam in the lake. Well, we stayed like 5 or 6 days in this place. Late, we went to other islands like Lemuy Chonchi, or Achao, we ate “curantos”, we have many adventures, we invented songs, oh yeas we meet Francisco Reyes and shared a glass of wine in a bonfire, etc.

With Pablo, we got to see each other and share in different places of Chiloé. He was traveling with his friend, and I was with my friends, but we reunited in many times and share a lot. He proposed me travel together, but I was not sure if do it or not. When I thought that my travel was finishing (we arrived to Valdivia), I called Pablo and accepted to go with him. I think it was a good decision. Finally we went to Liquñe (5 km. to Argentina) and stayed in a camping for one week or something like that. We got on well with each other. We went to fishing, we did rafting on the trancura’s river, we played guitar. It was really funny.

I think I’ll never forget this vacations!

Philosophia.cl

This website it’s related with my career, but it’s not exactly about sociology. It’s about philosophy. It’s named “philosophia.cl” and is part of the philosophy school of University ARCIS.
I think this site is great. It has almost all the free electronic literature available in Spanish on the web, but it has too many books and articles in Aleman, English or French. Bring together many links that contains hundreds of books, since Tomas de Aquino to Nietzche and Deleuze. It has journals, translations of books, cultural topics, etc. You can read, have and print electronic books of many topics and authors. Let’s see some of this links:

For psychologists it has many interesting pages, one of them is Psikebia: it’s a journal of psychoanalysis and cultural studies, for sociologists it has Acilbuper web, an Argentinean’s web who has compiles of many good journals, monographs, summaries or presentations of congress of sociology (for example ALAS) , it has too the website of POLIS, the journal of the University Bolivariana. I really recomend it.

Well, but not all in this site it’s hundred percent serious, it has too a section of “spare time and varieties”. This section it’s amazing: it have a compilation of anecdotes and mathematics curiosities, and a web link of the University of Oxford: Annals of the improbable investigation, with serious investigations about balls of fluff stuck in your bellybutton or the tendency of the shower curtain to latch on people, first you will laugh but late it makes you think. This last web it’s in English (you can practice).

Well, I hope you take a look of this site! It’s really good.
